Quick answer
The Visitor visa subclass 600 can cover tourism, family visits and permitted business visitor activities under the correct stream. The offshore Tourist stream base fee is AUD250 from 1 July 2026. A Brazilian residence permit does not replace passport-based requirements. Home Affairs assesses genuine temporary purpose, funding, personal circumstances and whether the itinerary is consistent with the applicant’s history.

Choose the stream before collecting documents
The Tourist stream covers holidays, cruises and visits to family or friends. The Business Visitor stream permits meetings, conferences and negotiations but not employment or services in the Australian labour market. Sponsored Family has separate sponsor rules and may involve a security bond.
The activity controls the route. Describing paid work or long-term study as tourism can undermine the application even when every attachment is authentic. Confirm purpose, duration, host and funding first.

Review your route before filing.
Cost, stay and visa conditions
Home Affairs publishes a base charge of AUD250 for an offshore Tourist stream application. Biometrics, medical examinations, translations and professional assistance may be separate. The Visa Pricing Estimator should be checked again immediately before filing.
A stay of up to 12 months may be available, but the grant letter controls the actual period, entries and conditions. Condition 8101 prohibits work, and other conditions may restrict study or further onshore applications. A headline maximum is not an individual entitlement.

Keep forms and evidence consistent.
Temporary purpose is an evidence question
The officer considers occupation, family, assets, travel history, purpose, length and reasons to return. Formal employment is not a universal requirement, but each applicant must present a credible temporary plan. Residence in Brazil can be relevant to current life and return obligations, not to passport nationality.
An invitation can establish a host and accommodation. It cannot carry the whole case. Where a host pays, the relationship, the host’s capacity and the applicant’s own circumstances should be documented consistently.
Documents must perform a clear function
Identity and Brazilian residence records establish who and where the applicant is. Employment, study and civil records explain ongoing circumstances. Bank records show funding only when ownership, source and access are credible. An itinerary should fit time, money and permitted activity.
Non-English documents must follow Home Affairs translation instructions, with originals retained. Upload complete, legible files to the correct ImmiAccount category. Fabricated reservations, edited statements and undisclosed refusals can create serious integrity issues.

Plan your application with technical support.
Families, minors and individual requirements
Each traveller needs an individual application and decision. For a minor travelling without one or both parents, parental responsibility, consent and identity evidence may be required, including Form 1229 where applicable.
Biometrics and medical examinations are requested individually. Follow the letter, location and deadline. Completing a request does not predict the outcome.
Filing and monitoring from Brazil
Review passports, addresses, immigration status in Brazil, travel history, refusals, funding and dates before payment. ImmiAccount is used to lodge, receive messages and update details. Material changes should be notified through the correct function.
Published processing times are indicators, not guarantees. Apply with realistic lead time and avoid irreversible bookings until the written decision and conditions are known.

Frequent weaknesses in otherwise credible cases
Recent unexplained deposits, copied itineraries, inconsistent job dates and a host letter describing work are avoidable problems. A large folder cannot correct a contradiction.
MVA Vistos can help a foreign resident in Brazil present the real route and supporting evidence. Home Affairs alone decides the application.
Frequently asked questions
Does Brazilian residence make me eligible?
It may explain where you live and apply, but nationality and passport requirements remain separate.
What is the offshore Tourist stream fee?
The published base fee is AUD250 from 1 July 2026. Check the official estimator before filing.
Can I work on a Visitor 600?
No. Permitted business visitor activities are not employment.
Is an invitation mandatory?
Not in every case. It supports a host arrangement but does not replace the applicant evidence.
Can the visa allow 12 months?
It may, but the individual grant letter controls the stay and entries.
Do biometrics mean approval?
No. They are an identity step when requested.
